Every day there is a full calendar of things to do with activities like Spanish news and conversation groups, mental health support, bingo, yoga, Bible study, music appreciation or arts and crafts. There are SACA people available to help with household problems, getting financial or medical help or acting as an advocate in a situation that needs help with language and communication. There is even help finding a senior job to help make ends meet.

The Luis Munoz Marin facility (named for the Puerto Rican poet, journalist and politician who became the first democratically elected governor of Puerto Rico) is an official Lancaster County Senior Center and is supported in part through the Lancaster County Office of Aging.  In terms of number served, it is the largest center in Lancaster and it is the only center that cooks hot food on site instead of using pre-packaged meals prepared at a different location.  Last year, the center served over 32,000 hot meals – both breakfast and lunch – for many seniors and other individuals in need who otherwise would not have eaten that day. 

The Luis Munoz Marin Senior Center supports our most vulnerable citizens with social, education, recreation and psychological services.  It enhances their quality of life, protects against loneliness, isolation, depression or illness, and preserves independent living in an active multi-lingual and diverse community.
